Established in 1994, The Virginia Hornets have been Richmond Virginia's premier outdoor football experience providing affordable and quality family friendly entertainment.  During it's 18 seasons The Hornets success has led them to 2 UFL Super BOWL Championships, 2007 Metro Bowl National Championship, 4 Southern Conference Championships and 2 EFA National Champion Runner-up.  This season The Hornets are proud to announce that all 2012 home games will be played at Richmond City Stadium (22,000 seat cap), also home to the Richmond Kickers Pro soccer team and formerly home to the University of Richmond Spiders football team.  This season also marks the introduction of The HONEY, the talented and energetic Cheerleaders for the Hornets.

The Second Chance Program

​

The Virginia Hornets Major League Football team is a non-profit organization, whose sole purpose has not changed in 18 years, to serve our communities.  Our purpose offers young men and women an opportunity to continue being positive members of their community and to reach their goals and their potential in life.  The primary way that the Virginia Hornets do this, is through our program called “Second Chance”. 

Although most of our players are high school and college standouts, some of them made choices or faced setbacks in their lives that derailed their hopes and dreams of the future.  The Virginia Hornets believe in second chances and welcomes these young adults with open arms.  Through coaching, teamwork, and mentoring we help them achieve their dreams or recover from their mistakes.  Those players that do make it to the college ranks are rewarded with scholarships through the “Second Chance” Scholarship Program.

We, the corporate staff of the Virginia Hornets Football, Inc., are dedicated to being a premiere  adult football organization in the United States. We strive to maintain a positive, motivating and enthusiastic atmosphere for our athletes, staff and sponsors.  It is our belief that a successful collaboration between communities, corporations and classrooms will help provide our young people with the tools they will need for success in the world beyond school.  It is our hope that the individuals involved in our programs will come to have a positive impact on their families and the communities in which they live.
